Outreach at Trinity
The Church teaches that Christian life is
centered about expressions of faith, hope and charity. One way we live
this out is through the Baptismal Covenant, where we promise "to seek
and serve Christ in all persons," and "to strive for justice and peace
among all people", as well as to "respect the dignity of every human
being." Living out the promises made in baptism leads directly into
service of others.
While our efforts to serve others may meet some immediate needs, the
parish also seeks to nurture the long-term hopes and dreams of our
community. Parishioners are encouraged to serve others through the
programs offered here at the parish; however, we realize that each of
us is given a variety of opportunities for service throughout our daily
life and work - be it with our families, schools, or neighborhoods.
Whether it occurs within the parish or in other ways, Trinity supports
the continual striving for justice and peace in all areas of our common
life.
Last Resort Pantry
Trinity runs a food pantry on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 11
a.m. to 1 p.m. without referral and Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8
p.m. for those working during the day and able to show evidence of
daytime employment. The pantry serves hundreds of guests every day.
Guests may come once a week. Volunteers are always appreciated to sort
and distribute donations. If interested in helping, please contact Jill
Osis at (732) 775-5084.
Saturday Soup
In response to the poverty afflicting the Asbury Park area, Trinity
runs a weekly soup kitchen (Saturday Soup). Initiated in 1990, the soup
kitchen now welcomes up to 200 guests each Saturday for a sit-down, hot
lunch. Volunteers, many of which come from other religious
organizations in our county, set up tables, prepare and serve meals,
socialize with the guests, and clean up afterwards. New hands and
donations are always welcome! If you are interested in helping, please
contact Jill Osis at (732) 775-5084.
The Shawl Ministry
This ministry is an outreach of love and prayer through the knitting
and crocheting of shawls for individuals who are ill, in mourning or in
need of comfort, and of lap blankets for our wounded soldiers. Prayers
are offered at the beginning and during the creation of the shawls and
lap blankets. When they are completed they will be blessed at the 10am
Sunday Eucharist and sent to those in need. Please let Deacon Gail know
of anyone who is in need or if you wish to be part of this ministry of
blessing via talking to her after worship or contacting her through the
parish office.
